Overview
This project included the design and development of a brand new hiring portal used by IBM managers, recruiters, HR, and candidates. This portal consolidated key functionalities (creating job requisitions, finding and reviewing candidates, evaluating candidates, approving candidates, managing offers) onto one platform and that could be used by hiring managers, HR, recruiters and candidates.
Challenges
Prior to the redesign,
Hiring managers, HR, recruiters and others were required to use multiple tools to do their jobs, and some of these tools weren’t tied together. Users spent extra time going between applications, and sometimes having to duplicate data entry. Users also did not have a dashboard to quickly scan all job requisitions, status, etc.
Approach
Our top level goals were:
Develop key personas, including IBM employee, HR rep, hiring manager, and recruiter
Design this new app based on users wants and needs (by facilitating workshops and interviews to collect requirements).
Create a net-new hiring portal that would consolidate key functionalities (creating job requisitions, finding and reviewing candidates, evaluating candidates, approving candidates, managing offers) onto one platform and that could be used by hiring managers, HR, recruiters and candidates.
Test designs along the way by showing prototypes to users, and then integrating feedback into the product
Basic flows
We started with basic flows using DrawIO. This served as a jumpoff to screens as we designed them for each persona.
Wireframing
As we firmed up the requirements for screens, I created lo-fi screens in DrawIO and then created a clickable prototype to be used for presenting to stakeholders, guiding development on functionality, and testing with real users.
Prototyping
I created final designs in Figma and then created clickable prototypes, again for presenting to stakeholders, sharing with development and final testing with users. We had a prototype for each persona. Here is the dashboard page for the hiring manager.
Prototype testing summary
We created prototypes for each persona. This was the summary for the prototyping testing we did with the hiring managers. I created playback presentations with the full test plan, test results, and recommendations.
Outcome
The hiring manager portal was launched in the fall of 2024. And I was moved to another project. I didn’t get data , but the hiring managers were thrilled over this application when we got prototype feedback, and they were waiting eagerly for it’s launch.
